The role of the Junior System Administrator is to configure, maintain, and monitor the US Department of Commerce applications and systems to ensure a high level of availability of the supported network environment. This individual also participates in the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system access and provisioning is consistent with industry best practices and requirements.  This individual will also work closely with the service desk technicians to help perform the necessary ticket monitoring, troubleshooting, ticket completion and customer satisfaction.   - Support daily operations. Manages trouble tickets, diagnoses problems, and recommends and/or implements solutions. Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators.  - Duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space. - Provide recommendations for new hardware/software and technologies. - Maintain and support LAN/WAN environment, Windows systems, business applications, anti-virus protection, and authentication administration - Support backup processes.  Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary. - Create, change, and delete user accounts per request. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.  Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.  Coordinate and communicate with impacted users.  - Support Mobile Device Management (MDM) and provide quarterly report - Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the OSLAN - Configures, tests, and maintains LAN/WAN equipment and related services.  Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves network problems. - Daily maintenance and problem resolution, operating system patches and software upgrades, and routine hardware configuration. - Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented systems/networks.  - Administer, support and maintain objects in Active Directory 2008R2/2012R2 - Administer, support and troubleshoot Office 365 Cloud email and client services to include, calendar management and user synchronization.  - Complete project tasks as assigned and support the new projects as necessary and appropriate.  - Manage, support and maintain Printer server - Make security and efficiency enhancement recommendations to management - Resolve and close tickets in accordance with OSLAN SLAs - Conduct after hours maintenance and troubleshooting as required - Other duties required
